Katie Estavillo is a personal injury attorney with a strong background in both civil and criminal law. She has been recognized for her skills in the areas of legal research, persuasive writing and oral advocacy. Katie worked as an assistant Public Defender in Pima County for eight years, with five years of trial experience and three years of appellate experience. As a trial attorney, Katie attended the Maricopa County Trial College and later, the National Criminal Defense College (NCDC) specializing in Cross-Examination, held in Atlanta, Georgia. She tried many cases in the Pima County Superior Court. As an appellate attorney, Katie represented criminal defendants on appeal before both Division Two of the Arizona Court of Appeals and the Arizona Supreme Court.
Prior to her work at the Pima County Public Defender’s Office, Katie clerked for Judge Cruikshank, in Division 22 of the Pima County Superior Court. She also worked as a law clerk/research assistant at Mesch, Clark, and Rothschild, P.C.
Over the course of her career, Katie has been affiliated with the following legal organizations: Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice (AACJ); Arizona Public Defender’s Association; Arizona Association for Justice; and Arizona Trial Lawyer’s Association (ATLA). She has given presentations on topics ranging from “Collateral consequences of criminal convictions” to “Preserving your case for appeal.” Katie is admitted to practice law in the State of Arizona and in the U.S. District Court.
In addition to legal organizations, Katie also supports the following community organizations: the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, Pima Animal Care Center, Tucson Community Food Bank, Pima County Public Library, and Arizona Public Radio.
